Church of Santa Gertrudis de Fruitera

by Ajuntament de Santa Eulària des Riu · Santa Eulària des Riu

Church of 1797 with the largest belfry of any church on Ibiza and an outdoor staircase to the choir, in the village centre. Outside visit.

About

The central nave of Santa Gertrudis was completed in 1797, but a later façade with a porch and upper floor hides it. The Santa Eulària council and its tourism site highlight the island's largest belfry, dated 1899, and details such as the choir reached by an outdoor staircase and the calvary with four crosses. Inside there are fruit motifs, after the village's name. A small village grew up around it, with craft, antique and leather shops. No hours or price are given for the interior, so here the visit counts as the outside only.
