Church of El Pilar de la Mola

by Consell Insular de Formentera · Formentera

1784 church on the El Pilar de la Mola square, the only one on Formentera with a porch over its door. Exterior visit only.

About

The Consell de Formentera presents it as the starting point of its La Mola-Es Monestir green route (2.7 km). It is a simple, elegant parish church dedicated to the Virgen del Pilar, completed in 1784 after residents had asked for it since 1760. Per the same source, it is the only church on the island with a porch sheltering the entrance door, and it was declared a cultural heritage asset in 1996. This listing covers the exterior visit from the square only. The Formentera website gives no opening hours or price.
