Cap de Barbaria Lighthouse and Cova Foradada

by Consell Insular de Formentera · Formentera

Lighthouse on a cliff about 100 m high at the southernmost point of the Balearics, with Cova Foradada nearby. Free to see from outside; cars regulated in summer.

About

According to the Consell, the lighthouse stands on a sheer cliff about 100 m high, at the southern tip of the Balearics and the point closest to the African coast. Nearby is Cova Foradada, a cave with a special viewpoint, entered through a hole in the ground; the official site asks visitors to take particular care because of the wind and the drop. Only the outside of the lighthouse can be seen. In 2026 the Consell kept the ban on motor vehicles in the tanca d'Allà Dins from 15 May to 15 October, with free access on foot and by bike; no official 2027 calendar was found. Opening hours: not stated.
